What is Executive Functioning?

Just like an ocean reef, your brain is a complex organism with multiple parts working together in synchrony. A well developed executive function system (your reef) is essential for all tasks of speech and communication, and is crucial to acquisition of academic skills (reading, writing, math).

When our reef is not well organized, observational challenges might include difficulty with telling a story, hard time explaining, organization, prioritizing, inhibition, time management, social skills, and problem solving. Skills learned in one context will have difficulty generalizing to other settings.
